Available for hire: construction workers trained in residential construction, green building, safety, teamwork and communication. The VCE will have their resumes and contact information after May 14. Check back to get in touch with workers that will help build your contracting company!
Stimulus money provided Butte College the opportunity to train unemployed workers in green building construction skills.
These workers, many from the construction trades, have done eight weeks of hands-on skills training. Their coursework included:
- Construction safety, teambuilding, communication, personal responsibility
- Use of equipment and hand tools
- Construction systems and materials: foundations, framing, electrical, plumbing, windows and roof systems
- Understanding Sustainable Construction and Green Building theory & practice
- Energy fundamentals, energy efficiency and renewable energy systems
- Water efficient building and retrofits,
- Solar hot water design and installation principles
- Solar PV design and installation principles
- NABCEP
They are ready to be hired!
If you are looking for employees with good work ethics, knowledge of construction safety and tools, and aware of green building practices… look no farther!
25 students graduate May 14 and their resumes will be available after that date.
19 students will finish the second training class on June 11; resumes will be available at that time.
All will have taken the National American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) PV Entry Level exam.
