  VCE Green Building & Safety Resource Center

  Advancing Safe and Responsible Green Building

    The VCE's Green Building & Safety Resource Center is a small office within the Cleantech Innovation Center (CIC) in Oroville.  This VCE member benefit has three core purposes:
        1.  To give members a one-stop resource for green building information;
        2.  To provide our members with the extensive safety information the industry requires;
        3.  To educate homeowner and building owners about using licensed contractors, and to refer our members for that construction work.

   The Green Building & Safety Resource Center offers some unique benefits for members.  Use the computers to see plans via our Online Planroom, check websites, view online trainings and watch webcasts.  Get information on trainings and safety certifications, books and magazines and how-to videos.  Plus, we will stock tons of safety supplies for your offices and jobsites!

    Training and demonstrations, through partnerships within CIC, will be held so contractors can build skills installing new products and using new materials.

Two studies analyze green building performance in regard to energy use.  Two no-surprise findings:  Prioritizing energy efficiency in the design process led to better performance, and energy modeling is inaccurate because it can't model occupant load or behavior.  (Environmental Building News, Volume 18, Number 12.  www.BuildingGreen.com)
